Any news on this? Does anyone know the encoding of .knw files?
I'd be interested to edit/create AI for the new mods and existing cars.

I'm preparing for release of clj-insim version 0.3.0.
It's not yet ready to deploy to clojars, but hopefully will be in the near future.

verberktstan.github.io/clj-insim
I've created a github page with a link to the docs. These aren't very complete, but with the examples and the docs you might just come long.

To be continued and improved!

Somehow the wheels don't show up in the modeler and vehicle editor.
Are there any settings affecting this (other than the 'show wheels' option)?
I came into the modeler via the vehicle editor.

I'm running LFS 0.6W43 and the editor via PlayOnMac on a macbook (that could be an issue). Wheels do work perfectly in-game though.

I have absolutely no idea, i never got the original LX8 to work properly.
Is it possible to copy this data from the LX6 and adjust it?

I've abandoned the old version, which still hangs around at Clojars though.

At https://github.com/verberktstan/clj-insim you find a new WIP version that's based on the excellent core.async stuff.

In the examples dir you find some examples, but it is not yet useable as a lib (via clojars).

You can download the code and add an example yourself if you want to try it out. :-)

Quote from ACCAkut :Some words of wisdom:

You're much better off learning the craft yourself than waiting on someone fulfilling your request. Those that can create this stuff don't sit around, not knowing what to do. And collaborating on these things does not mean one person writes down an idea, and another sits down for half a year actually making it Wink Literally anyone can come up with some fantasy specs in 5 minutes.

I don't want to be a party pooper, but I know all this from the Assetto Corsa community.

Actually im working on this myself. As you say, people dont sit around and wait..
This is not a request, im looking for other peoples thoughts/interests on this.

Looks nice! Are you thinking about a XRG (RWD/saloon car) replacement with matching specs as well?

Performance wise, I imagine LMP2 to be inbetween GTR & FO8, and LMP1 to be inbetween GTR & BF1. This could be another interesting thing yeah.

This is ofcourse my inspiration. Only difference: I'm aiming for something driveable.

Thats why I think limiting the engine maybe better. Somewhere below 750kg mass would be better, indeed..

In comparison to a real life alternative: a Donkervoort D8 GTO weighs about 700kgs, so that seems realistic. It delivers 340~380bhp and 450Nm torque.

The FO8's V8 has higher bhp and lower torque... Maybe it's better to create a completely new engine for this :-)

Some mod ideas

I'm very much interested in high quality mods for when 0.7C with the new mod stuff arrives (for testing).

I'd like to propose some ideas for high quality mods that should be relatively easy to make based off the existing car models and their engine specs.

The idea is simple, place an existing engine in another car and tweak it until it roughly matches a existing car class. There should be a lot to tweak like mass, weight-distribution or the exact engine configuration/size, and i want to stay close to current LFS cars/classes.

First ideas;

LX8 - LX GTR (yeah i know there's a mod around)
Basicly the LX6 body with the FO8's 3 litre V8 under the bonnet. It needs slicks and some downforce and matches the GTR spec. Maybe wider wheels?
This one is far heavier than LX4/LX6, maybe lower the power or revs of the engine instead?
  • Total mass = 539+469=1008kg
  • Power = 335kW
  • Power-weight = ~332W/kg like the GTR's.
RAR - Raceabout GTR
Basicly the RAC body with the FZ5's 3.6 litre flat 6 in the back. It needs slicks, some downforce and some added weight to match the GTR spec.
  • Total mass = 800+10=810kg
  • Power = 269kW
  • Power-weight = ~332W/kg like the GTR's.
What do you think?
Maybe we can collaborate to make this work? Some community members might be better in tweaking the 3D model, others prefer to test/balance the specs (like myself).

Cheers, Stan (Boer Tarrel)

Aha, now i do get your question :-)

Could we add this to the lfs manual maybe? I don't think it's there. https://en.lfsmanual.net/wiki/Options#View

Hi, welcome to LFS and the forum!

The L3 is a button, right? Normally when you use a gamepad, you use an axis (steer/joystick) for steering. I'd use 1 of the joysticks for steering.

When players use keyboard they use the assistance, because a binary control like a key (or L3) makes 'the damn pilot steer a lot' indeed. But i don't know if the keyboard steering assistance works with a your controller.
Have a look at this; https://en.lfsmanual.net/wiki/Options#Controls

You could also tweak the maximum lock (steering angle) in your setup, but that might not give you the desired result. More about that on https://en.lfsmanual.net/wiki/Basic_Setup_Guide#Steering
